Flippen Park: A Hidden Gem for Dallas Portrait Sessions
Nestled in the heart of Highland Park, TX lies a photographer’s dream Dallas portrait session location—Flippen Park. It’s just minutes from downtown Dallas! This charming oasis is in the middle of a neighborhood of gorgeous homes. It has become one of my favorite spots for capturing stunning engagement photos, anniversary photos, and even senior photos. As a Dallas portrait photographer, I’m always on the lookout for versatile outdoor photography locations. Flippen Park truly delivers with its elegant park setting and picturesque features.
From the moment you step into this manicured garden, you’re greeted by the soothing sounds of a beautiful fountain and the shimmer of a reflection pool. This is the perfect backdrop for those romantic DFW engagement photos or timeless senior or family portraits. Also, it’s an ideal setting for a surprise proposal! Flippen Park offers a variety of scenic spots that cater to all types of outdoor portrait sessions.

Golden hour (about 1-2 hours before sunset) is the best time to take photos at Flippen Park! There is a beautiful glow as the sun sets through the trees. It also means that it’s less hot in the summertime, with mostly shaded spots from the trees!
You may want to bring mosquito spray! There is a large fountain that the bugs seem to be attracted to!
Flippen Park has become a popular photo spot recently. This means that you may see lots of people taking photos on the weekends. However, most people clear out as the sun sets and you’ll have the whole place to yourself! Just be sure to avoid any Highland Park homecoming or prom dates when it’s swarming with people!
There is no shortage of spots for a portrait session at Flippen Park! From the fountain to the gazebo, there is a variety of backdrops to explore!
